Pope Tawadros II, leader of Egypt’s Copts, received on Tuesday Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawy to offer felicitations over Coptic Christmas at the papal residence.
Beblawy said that Egyptian Copts are part of the national fabric and that feelings of fraternity between Muslims and Copts will always remain stronger than calls of division.
He added that the hardships that Egypt faced in the past few years pressured both Copts and Muslims to realize that their unity is the only guarantee for stability.
Cabinet Spokesperson Hani Salah said that Beblawy also said during the meeting with Pope Tawadros that Egyptians must remain optimistic about the future.
Pope Tawadros welcomed Beblawy and the escorting ministers and expressed his confidence with the government’s abilities.
