
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed the importance of continuing efforts to secure petroleum products to meet consumption and production needs, in coordination with relevant authorities. He emphasized the need to expand production and exploration activities in cooperation with international companies.His remarks came during a meeting on Monday, May 25, 2026, with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to review ministry files.
During the meeting, Badawi outlined the ministry’s key priorities during the current phase. This included securing petroleum products and natural gas supplies, increasing production and exploration activities in cooperation with global companies, and maximizing the value of petroleum resources through refining and petrochemical industries.
Badawi also reviewed efforts to advance the mining sector and enhance its added value, strengthen regional cooperation to attract further investments in the petroleum and mining sectors, and create an attractive investment climate. This is in addition to maintaining safety standards, improving energy efficiency, and reducing emissions.
He further highlighted coordination with the electricity sector to secure an optimal energy mix to support economic growth, as well as leveraging Egypt’s strategic location for green hydrogen production and energy trade.
He also reviewed cooperation with Murdoch University to implement training programs aimed at building the capacities of petroleum sector personnel according to international standards.
Badawi further reviewed preparations for the Egyptian Mining Conference scheduled for late September under the patronage of President Sisi.
