ARISH, Egypt, April 19 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed Sunday the implementation rate of a major project to establish 17 urban development clusters in the cities of Rafah and Sheikh Zuweid, during a field visit to the “Al-Husseinat” development site in North Sinai.
North Sinai Governor Khaled Megawer said the project falls within the framework of state’s strategy to achieve comprehensive development in Sinai, in line with directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
For her part, Minister of Housing Randa el Menshawy presented details of the project, explaining that the first phase is being implemented across four clusters: Al-Husseinat overlooking Abu Shanar, Al-Wefaq, Nagaa Shabana and Al-Mahdiya, and Al-Dhahir Al-Muqataa.
The phase includes the construction of 6,047 Bedouin houses, along with full utilities and services, through the Ministry of Housing and affiliated development agencies, Menshawy said.
She noted that the design of the Bedouin homes takes into account the tribal and social nature of Sinai communities, ensuring privacy and adherence to local traditions.
During the tour, Madbouly inspected a model Bedouin house at the Al-Husseinat site, which serves as a representative example of the broader project. He also observed construction progress from an elevated viewpoint.
Deputy Governor Assem Saadoun explained that the Al-Husseinat cluster spans around 1,094 feddans and includes 3,024 Bedouin houses, expected to serve approximately 12,000 residents.
Meanwhile, Head of the Executive Agency for Sinai Reconstruction Wael Mostafa said the development clusters will feature integrated service zones.
The project aims to establish fully integrated, modern communities that support sustainable development and improve living standards across North Sinai. (MENA)
