Public Prosecution detains three suspects in “Hadayek al-Ahram tea vendor” accident

The Public Prosecution ordered the pretrial detain of three suspects over a collision that led to the death of a tea vendor in the Hadayek al-Ahram area.

The Public Prosecution had received a notification regarding a collision in the area, which resulted in the death of one woman and the injury of another while they were operating a tea cart at the scene.

The Public Prosecution immediately initiated its investigation, dispatching a team to the accident scene to conduct the necessary forensic examination.

Investigators reviewed surveillance cameras surrounding the crime scene and took the statements of the injured victim, as well as five eyewitnesses, to establish the circumstances of the accident.

The witnesses testified that the second suspect was the one driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, a fact that the first suspect later admitted to during interrogation.

Furthermore, investigations revealed that the first suspect’s father had permitted him to use the vehicle despite knowing he did not possess a valid driver’s license, which subsequently led to the accident.

The Public Prosecution charged the suspects with causing the first victim’s death, injuring the second victim, and destroying property (the vehicle), in addition to driving a motor vehicle without a license.

The first suspect and his father were also charged with permitting the second suspect to drive the vehicle without a license, while the father faces an additional charge of child endangerment.

Accordingly, the Public Prosecution has ordered the remand of the first suspect, the second suspect, and the first suspect’s father in pretrial detention, pending the completion of ongoing investigations.
