Public prosecutor returns church land plot seized by Salafis

Public Prosecutor Abdel Meguid Mahmoud returned a plot of land owned by the Shubra El-Kheima Church after the church’s bishop complained that a group of Salafis had occupied the land Tuesday and turned a building on the property into a mosque.

Prosecutor and police investigations proved the church’s legal ownership of the plot.

Mahmoud ordered the police to protect the land and prevent any illegal construction on it.

The Maspero Youth Union, led by Coptic activists, called for demonstrations on Wednesday to protest continuous attacks on Coptic places of worship.
