Sectarian clashes delay PM’s Gulf visit

Prime Minister Essam Sharaf decided to postpone his visit to Bahrain, originally scheduled for today, due to sectarian clashes in Imbaba, a district in the north-east of Cairo.

Sharaf called an emergency meeting for the cabinet on Sunday to discuss the repercussions of the clashes, which broke out on Saturday.

Sharaf toured Gulf states and Saudi Arabia last month to bolster cooperation and economic assistance to Egypt.
