On Monday an estimated 800,000 hundred thousand people joined a state-organized rally in the Chechen capital Grozny against Charlie Hebdo cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, according to Russia's interior ministry.
"More than 800,000 people took part in the rally in the center of Grozny," the ministry said.
The Russian region of Chechnya, which is predominately Muslim, has undergone several separatist movements over the past decades.
