The head of Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital, Mohamed Fathalla, confirmed on Sunday that former President Hosni Mubarak’s state of health is stable.
According to the state-run Middle East News Agency (MENA), Fathalla said that chief medical examiner Ahmed al-Seba’e had examined Mubarak. However, Fathalla refused to give his assessment of the possibility of transferring Mubarak to another hospital.
Attorney General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud ordered on Thursday the examination of the possibility of transferring toppled president Hosni Mubarak to the hospital of Tora prison in Cairo.
The General Prosecution had earlier remanded Mubarak in custody for 15 days pending investigation over charges of corruption and sanctioning the murder of protesters during the 25 January revolution.
Mubarak is currently confined at a hopsital in Sharm el-Sheikh, as earlier medical reports stated that he was not in a fit medical condition to be moved.
On Thursday, Mahmoud commissioned the chief medical examiner to inspect the hospital at Tora prison, and decide if it is suitable for hosting the former president.
He also ordered him to check Mubarak's health and determine the possibility of providing the hospital with all the facilities needed for his treatment.
