Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived at the National Museum of Civilization in Fustat to receive the Golden Parade of royal mummies.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities gifted President Sisi the ticket #1 to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat prior to the parade’s arrival.
The President wrote across his social media accounts: “With all my pride I look forward to receiving the kings and queens of Egypt after their journey from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
“This majestic scene is new evidence to the greatness of this people, the guardian of this unique civilization that extends into the depths of history.
“I invite all Egyptians, and the whole world to follow this unique event, inspired by the spirit of our great ancestors, who preserved the homeland and created a civilization in which all humankind is proud, to continue our path that we started… the path of construction and humanity,” he wrote.
A one of its kind event is soon to occur on Saturday evening, as 22 royal mummies will be transferred in a majestic procession from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat. Egypt prepares and awaits this historic moment.
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is set to open its doors to visitors on April 4, while the 22 royal mummies being transferred on Saturday from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square will be ready for display at the Royal Mummies Hall starting from April 18.
These ancient mummies, dating back to the 17th to the 20th dynasties include 18 kings and four queens.
They include King Ramses II, King Sagnin Ra, King Tuthmosis III, King Seti I, Queen Hatshepsut, Queen Merit Amon, wife of King Amenhotep I, and Queen Ahmose – Nefertari, wife of King Ahmose.
