President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi issued a presidential decree on Monday, renewing the appointment of Hassan Abdalla as Governor of the Central Bank (CBE) for another year, following his two-year tenure as acting governor, which began on August 18, 2022.
President al-Sisi had initially appointed Hassan Abdalla as acting governor of the Central Bank for one year in August 2022, with his term being extended for another year on August 17, 2023.
Under Hassan Abdalla’s leadership, CBE successfully eliminated the black market of foreign currency. His policies also managed to curb inflation, reducing it from levels above 40 percent to 25 percent.
