Sisi received by King Felipe VI at Zarzuela Palace

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met on Thursday with Spanish King Felipe VI at Zarzuela Palace.

The meeting dealt with means of fostering bilateral relations, especially increasing Spanish investments in new Suez Canal project.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry also attended the meeting.

Earlier, the Spanish King received President Sisi at the palace's garden, while a number of Spanish and foreign media outlets covered the visit.

Sisi also met with Spanish Minister of Economy and Competitiveness Luis de Guindos.

They discussed ways of bolstering economic ties between the two countries, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said.

De Guindos spoke about country's keenness to increase investment in Egypt during the coming period, given the recent recovery of the Spanish economy.

Spain sees Egypt a key factor in the stability of the Middle East, due to promising investment opportunities, Youssef said.

The President also met with a number of Spanish businessmen. Several business agreements have been signed on the sidelines of the visit, in the field of infrastructure, transportation, tourism and security, the spokesman concluded.
