Sisi, US Central Command, review counter-terrorism efforts

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi Said on Thursday that the Arab region needs all countries to cooperate in order to confront the challenges facing the Arab security and stability.

During a meeting with the commander of US Central Command, General Joseph Votel, Sisi stressed that Egypt and the US share strong strategic relations, notably militarily, and emphasized Egypt’s extensive efforts to eradicate terrorism through all strategies.

Votel, meanwhile, praised the strong military relationship between the two countries, asserting that the US is keen on developing its relations with Egypt.

Votel said terrorism is a challenge faced by the entire world, and hailed Egypt’s role in reinforcing regional security and stability.

Following the meeting, Votel met the Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohammed Farid to discuss joint military exercises between the two countries, namely ‘Bright Star’ exercises.
