Suez Cement Company workers resumed their strike on Wednesday for the fourth day in row, demanding a disbursal of their annual profit share.
Sources from the company said representatives from the Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF) and the Manpower Ministry are scheduled to pay a visit to the striking workers in an attempt to reach a solution over the crisis. The goal is also to convince the strikers to postpone their demands until the end of the economic summit which begins on Friday in Sharm el-Sheikh.
Speaking to Al-Masry Al-Youm, the sources indicated a violation by company administration on the agreement which was struck with workers over receiving their annual profit share.
Managers at the company were informed about work suspension and the workforce department was notified about the workers’ demands.
Approximately 600 workers from the company’s Wadi Hogul branch in Suez have been on strike since Sunday to protest being deprived of one month's share out of a 12-month profit share in the company.
