Hundreds of protesters in Suez Governorate, who say the ruling military council ignored their demands, blocked the Ain Sokhna road early on Sunday. The road links Suez with the Red Sea Governorate.
As vehicles queued up and workers of various companies, factories and harbors could not reach their work places, some joined protesters on the road.
Protesters gathered before the guidance building affiliated with the Suez Canal Authority and threatened to hinder navigation in the canal. But they decided to escalate their sit-in by blocking the Ain Sokhna road instead.
On Sunday, they issued a statement calling on the ruling council to hand over power and dismiss the attorney general and the Suez prosecution's district attorney. They also demanded forming a committee of judges to investigate cases of corruption and protesters killings.
