Work at North Sinai notary office hampered due to nationwide strike

Work at notary offices in northern Sinai was hampered on Monday due to a nationwide strike by notary office employees, putting the collection of citizen signatures for the various presidential candidates on hold.

Over 120 notary office employees gathered in the main headquarters in the Arish Court to demand increased recruitment incentives, exemption from the performance basis for recruitment incentives, and setting of workers’ wages according to their qualifications.

In their note to Justice Minister Adel Abdel Hamid and Assistant Justice Minister for Notary and Registration Affairs Omar Marawan the employees demanded equality with other state employees concerning financial rights and improved working conditions. They noted that they had previously presented a number of demands to Abdel Hamid and Marawan, all of which had been ignored.
