Egypt's ambassador to Russia, Mohamed al-Badry, told the Al-Hayat Al-Youm program on Thursday that the jacket Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was wearing on the sidelines of his visit to Russia was a gift from President Vladimir Putin.
Badry also said that Putin met with Sisi privately for 10 minutes. “This is a protocol in someone’s honor,” he explained.
He added that Sisi held a closed meeting with his Russian counterpart on Wednesday, in which they discussed the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam issue.
“The Russian side stressed the need for Egypt to preserve her interests,” he said.
He also quoted Putin as saying that Egypt is the centre of stability in the Middle East.
