CAIRO, Dec 5 (MENA) – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Abu Bakr Hefny Mahmoud and Spanish State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affair Diego Martínez praised the significant development in the scope and level of bilateral relations, as well as their coordination in various regional and international forums.
Both sides exchanged views on ways to enhance economic and trade relations between the two countries, in addition to discussing developments in Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan.
The meeting also addressed Spanish investments in Egypt and the implementation status of several current and future cooperation projects, particularly in the transportation sector, including collaboration with Spanish companies to rehabilitate metro and railway systems in Egypt.
The two officials also reviewed the latest regional developments, focusing on the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip amid ongoing Israeli escalation.
The deputy minister stressed the importance of ensuring unrestricted access for humanitarian aid to Gaza’s residents and underscored the necessity of achieving an immediate, comprehensive, and sustainable ceasefire. (MENA)
