FM calls for intra-Syrian inclusive political process

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty emphasized Saturday 14/12/2024 the importance of initiating a purely-Syrian inclusive political process, encompassing all components of society, political and social powers, to achieve national reconciliation and ensure the success of the transitional process.

Addressing the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Contact Committee on Syria, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s stance, emphasizing the need to stand by the Syrian people during this critical juncture, preserve the unity and integrity of Syrian territory, respect its sovereignty, and support state institutions to enhance their capacity to serve the Syrian people.

The meeting is held in Aqaba, Jordan.

The top diplomat reaffirmed Egypt’s unequivocal rejection of Israel’s incursions into the buffer zone with Syria and condemned Israel’s occupation of Syrian territories and its violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel, which constitutes a breach of international law.

He further condemned Israel’s systematic airstrikes targeting the Syrian army’s infrastructure and military capabilities.
