Egypt made significant progress in human rights under President Sisi’s leadership: FM

CAIRO, Jan 27 (MENA) – Egypt has made significant progress in human rights under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, said Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.

Egypt’s relentless efforts in improving human rights in the various spheres primarily target the interests of the Egyptian citizen, he added during an exclusive interview with AlQahera News Channel on Monday.

The modern state that President Sisi seeks to establish is not limited only to the economic and social dimension but rather focuses mainly on human and citizen development, he further said.

He, meanwhile, referred to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) introduced by the United Nations Human Rights Council, under which all countries of the world are subject to this review every five years.

He explained that Egypt, being a member of the UNHR, is subject to this mechanism like other countries. (MORE)
