On Thursday, the Public Prosecution ordered the urgent criminal trial of a worker accused of harassing a woman on a public bus in Mokattam, Cairo. The first court session is set for March 10th.
The case originated from a report by a private sector employee who alleged that the suspect verbally harassed and stalked her from her workplace to a public transport vehicle. To secure evidence and seek help, the victim recorded the encounter on her mobile phone and shared the footage online.
Security authorities identified the suspect, a resident of Dakahlia, by analyzing CCTV footage and tracking his route. After a full investigation into the victim’s digital evidence and the suspect’s statements, the Prosecution finalized the charges of public harassment.
