
Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held separate contacts on Tuesday with his UAE and Turkish counterparts to follow up on the repercussions of the ongoing military escalation in the region.
During his call with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abdelatty condemned the targeting of the UAE consulate general in Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which caused damages there, affirming Egypt’s full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates against any threats to its diplomatic missions or security.
He also extended condolences to the UAE government and people over the death of two members of the Emirati armed forces following the crash of a military helicopter.
Abdelatty also had talks with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, voicing Egypt’s condemnation of any violations targeting Turkey’s sovereignty or airspace, reaffirming Cairo’s firm stance on rejecting any infringement on the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of states.
Abdelatty also reiterated the need to de-escalate tensions and prevent the region from sliding into wider confrontations with unpredictable consequences, underlining the need for prioritizing diplomatic solutions to contain the current crisis and maintain regional peace and security.
