At least 846 killed in Egypt’s revolution

An Egyptian government fact-finding mission says at least 846 people were killed during the popular uprising that toppled longtime president Hosni Mubarak.

The mission, consisting of a panel of judges, detailed in its Tuesday report what it described as the excessive use of force by security forces in the face of growing mass protests, which kicked off on 25 January.

The report said that security forces fired live ammunition, placed snipers on rooftops and used vehicles to run over protesters.

It added that more than 6,400 people were injured.
