Air Force awaiting new US fighter planes

Egypt is anticipating the arrival of a new batch of F-16 fighter planes from the United States this January, the Air Force said.

The news was announced during Monday’s press conference on the occasion of the performance of the Glory 2012 air maneuver.

Air Force commander Younis al-Masry said, “More than 200 aircraft of different models are used during the maneuver to reach a degree of professionalism, as well as the highest level of performance by pilots, in order to achieve the main objective of the Air Force, which is precision when hitting targets.”

Masry said that the Glory 2012 maneuver aims at raising the efficiency of the individual combatant with the help of the aircraft’s sophisticated technological precision. The maneuver is specifically designed to sharpen the combatant’s ability to use live ammunition.

Pilots in the Glory 2012 maneuver have trained for this performance for a month and a half.

Masry said that following this maneuver, the pilots would undergo training for night operations and maneuvers.
