German MEKO-A200 named “Al Qahhar” frigate arrived at Alexandria naval base Sunday to join Egypt’s navy.
“Al Qahhar” was built by ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems at SBN shipyard in Germany.
It is the second of four MEKO-A200 frigates contracted by Egypt and Germany.
During the reception held for the arrival of the frigate, the Commander of the Egyptian Navy Ashraf Atwa conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed Zaki to the frigate’s team.
Atwa, meanwhile, stressed the Armed Forces’ keenness on implementing a comprehensive strategy to develop and modernize the Egyptian naval fleet to enhance security and stability in areas of operation.
