Former MPs return 675 acres of land to the state

Justice ministry prosecutor Ahmed Idris says that 20 former MPs, who were being investigated over illegal seizures of state-owned land, have returned some 675 acres to the government, in the first such case since the 25 January revolution.

The land was allocated to them by direct order from former Minister of Agriculture Amin Abaza in violation of the law.

Idris also said that more former MPs are being questioned over another 492 acres.

Judicial sources said that the retrieved land would be offered in a public auction for the highest price, and that the former MPs would have the right to bid for it.
