Military prosecutors to investigate Qursaya deaths

The South Giza Prosecution referred investigations into the killing of a fisherman and injury of 13 Armed Forces personnel and Qursaya residents to the military prosecution Monday.

The prosecution allowed the burial of Mohamed Abdu Abdel Mawgoud, the fisherman who was killed in the clashes. According to medical reports, Abdel Mawgoud was shot twice. The prosecution also collected testimony from local residents.

Major General Ahmed Salem al-Naghy, deputy interior minister for Giza security, and Major General Kamal al-Daly, head of the criminal investigations unit, reached an agreement with residents to allow traffic to flow through Bahr al-Azam Street.

Qursaya residents had blocked the street for nine hours with burning tires Sunday, refusing to return to their houses or allow traffic to pass through until their relatives were released from custody.
