Morsy’s trial over Ettahdeya events adjourned to March

Cairo Criminal Court decided on Wednesday to adjourn to the first of March the trial of deposed President Mohamed Morsy and 14 Muslim Brotherhood figures over charges of instigating violence outside the Ettehadeya Presidential Palace in December 2012.

The court awaits the report of a three-party committee to review the videos attached by prosecution.

Last session, the court set 1 March as a deadline for the Egyptian Radio and TV Union to submit a technical report about videos submitted by prosecutors which depicted scenes of the clashes outside Ettehadiya.

The vicinity of the Police Academy, where the trial is held, had seen for the second day in a row the absence of Muslim Brotherhood members as the trial begins.

Amin Ezz Eddin, head of Alexandria Security Directorate, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that Morsy spent last night inside the Police Academy, after the Tuesday session. This is meant to diverse the plan for security and not sticking to a specific plan each trial.

Other defendants include former deputy presidential staffer Assad al-Sheikh, Morsy's office chief Ahmed Abdel Aaty, presidential security adviser Ayman Hodhod and others.

Leading Brotherhood figures including Freedom and Justice Party Vice Chief Essam al-Erian and Brotherhood leader Mohamed al-Beltagy are also involved in the trial.

Security sources said the suspects were moved them from their prison at seven in the morning using armored vehicles. Major Autostrad and ring roads were shut down to insure their safe arrival to the court.
