Muslim Brotherhood to field candidates in 4 governorates

The Muslim Brotherhood has announced it will field candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Gharbiya, Fayoum, Kafr al-Sheikh and Port Said governorates.

The organization's official spokesperson in Gharbiya said it will run a minimum of ten Brotherhood members, all current MPs, in the poll. The spokesman added that new candidates, including one female, will be announced in coming days.

Ahmed Abdel Rahman, the head of Fayoum’s Muslim Brotherhood administrative office, said seven candidates will stand for elections in the governorate’s seven electoral districts.

Brotherhood spokesperson in Kafr al-Sheikh, Ragab al-Banna, in a press conference on Monday said the organization there will field eight candidates in November's poll.

Port Said Muslim Brotherhood MP Ahmed al-Khawlany said only three candidates will stand for election in his governorate.

The Brotherhood's administrative office in Alexandria is scheduled to hold a press conference Tuesday evening in Smouha to announce the extent of the organization's participation there. The organization earlier announced it will field candidates in half of the governorate’s 24 seats.
