Supporters and opponents of ousted Islamist President Mohamed Morsy have clashed near Cairo's Tahrir Square, killing one person and injuring 26 others.

The clashes erupted when supporters of ousted President Morsy allegedly attempted to storm Tahrir Square, where opponents of Morsy are staging a sit-in.

The army ousted Morsy on 3 July after millions of Egyptians took to the streets demanding his resignation. The Brotherhood has denounced Morsy's toppling as a military coup and vowed to continue street protests until he is reinstated.
