FM asserts full Arab consensus on rejecting displacement of Palestinians

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed during a meeting in Washington with US Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen, member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee full Arab consensus on rejecting displacement of Palestinians.

Official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tamim Khallaf said Monday that the meeting took up ways to support strategic partnership between Egypt and the US.

He added that Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s strenuous efforts to achieve security and stability in the Middle East, highlighting the contribution of the Egyptian-US partnership and joint cooperation; as key pillars to supporting efforts in this regard.

The meeting witnessed a lengthy dialogue and exchange of views on the latest developments in the Palestinian issue as Abdelatty shed light on Egypt’s efforts in implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza over its three stages and ensuring its sustainability.

They also discussed prompt entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, together with the importance of pressing ahead with Gaza’s reconstruction process, without the departure of the Palestinians from their lands, according to the spokesman.

The foreign minister also accentuated the importance of working out a political solution for the Palestinian issue, which would result in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and
adhere to the rights of the Palestinian people in exercising their right to self-determination, he added.
